Mount Angel Library designed by architect Alvar Aalto was observed in order to understand how light is used and controlled. Alvar Alto's goal was to create a calm environment with the use of natural light. The entire library is awash with the natural light, except for the bottom floor.

Narrative
I have been selected to design a proposed non-denominational chapel located on the campus of Farmingdale State College. The College wants this to be a profoundly spiritual place that people of all faiths can worship and reflect on life’s events. The College believes this can be achieved by the creative use of light. The chapel will include a Main Sanctuary for 50 people, a Memorial Chapel, and a Meditation Chapel.
The Memorial Chapel will be oriented towards the morning light, the Main Sanctuary will be oriented towards midday light, and the Meditation Chapel will be oriented towards the afternoon light.
